Five teams from North Carolina will play in bowl games this month. From the FCS, the MEAC and SWAC conferences have foregone their automatic bids into the NCAA Division I FCS playoff in lieu of sending their champion to the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia. For FBS teams, six wins are necessary to become bowl eligible. A total of thirty-nine bowl games will be played between FBS teams over the next month. Four of the seven FBS teams from North Carolina were selected to play in a bowl game this season.
