4A Classification: Grimsley Maintains Dominance Amidst Changes

In the 4A classification, the Whirlies of Grimsley continue to assert their dominance, securing the top position for yet another week. A noteworthy development, however, is the upward movement of Mallard Creek, which surged from 6th place in Week 2 to 3rd place in Week 3. A close loss to nationally ranked top-five Buford was impressive enough for the Mavericks to move up the rankings.

The Week 3 rankings for the 4A classification are as follows:

1. Grimsley

2. Weddington

3. Mallard Creek

4. East Forsyth

5. Charlotte Catholic

Shifting our attention to the 3A classification, Crest High School emerges as the new front-runner, surpassing Kings Mountain for the number one spot after the Chargers’ Week 2 win over county rival, and top 2A contender, Burns. An intriguing development in this classification is the notable surge of the Dudley Panthers, who jumped five spots this week after an impressive 57-0 win last Friday night.

The Week 3 rankings for the 3A classification are as follows:

1. Crest

2. Kings Mountain

Lastly, in the 1A classification, Mount Airy remains steadfast in its position at the top, displaying unwavering dominance. The Vikings of Tarboro are right on the Granite Bears’ heels, however. A team to keep an eye on this week is Starmount as the Rams’ remarkable rise from unranked in Week 2 to 13th place this week shows a team cementing its place in the 1A rankings early in the season.
